A YouTube Attribution Onboarding Checklist for New Agency Clients

Sep 28, 2026 · by Omar adel

A practical, in-order checklist for getting a new client's channel from zero attribution to a working view-to-revenue report inside VidWorth.

Most of the friction in setting up attribution for a new client isn't the concept — it's the order of operations. Miss a step and the first report comes back with gaps that are hard to explain after the fact. Here's a sequence that avoids that.

Before touching anything

  1. Confirm the primary conversion. A lead? A booked call? A sale? Agencies reporting revenue without agreeing on this first tend to redo the report later.
  2. List every downstream tool in the client's funnel — scheduler, form, CRM, payment processor — before deciding what to connect.

Setup sequence

Step What to do
1. Connect the channel Grants the read access to view and video data described in the documentation
2. Connect the conversion tool Calendly, Cal.com, Tally, ClickFunnels, Stripe, or Whop — whichever matches the client's actual funnel
3. Confirm the tool reports as working Not just "connected" — check the dashboard shows a real event, the way Tally shows a recent opt-in once it's live
4. Place tracked links on new content Description and pinned comment, going forward
5. Decide on back-catalog placement Bulk-add links to older videos, or leave historical content unattributed by agreement with the client
6. Set the reporting cadence Weekly or monthly view of views, clicks, leads, bookings, and revenue by video

What to check before the first report goes out

  • Does at least one test click show up end-to-end, from the tracked link to the connected tool?
  • Does the client understand which conversions are being counted, and which aren't yet connected?
  • Is it clear internally which videos have tracked links and which don't, so a zero-lead video isn't mistaken for an underperforming one?

What this checklist doesn't cover

It assumes the client's channel is already owned and accessible for connection, and it doesn't replace the tool-specific setup steps in the documentation for each integration. For the broader workspace structure, see Setting Up VidWorth for a Single Creator vs. a Multi-Client Agency Workspace.
