How to Test a Trakyo Alternative Side by Side Before You Switch
Oct 22, 2026 · by Omar adel
Don't pick a YouTube attribution tool from feature pages. Run a two-to-four-week side-by-side test on one channel and compare the numbers that decide revenue.
The fastest way to choose between Trakyo and an alternative is to stop comparing feature pages and run a controlled test. Put both tools on the same channel, send the same traffic through them, and compare the numbers that actually affect your decisions: which videos get credit for booked calls and sales, and how much revenue each tool leaves unexplained.
This page is the test plan. For the criteria themselves, start with what to look for in YouTube revenue attribution.
Pick one channel and one offer
Testing across several channels at once makes the results impossible to read. Choose:
- One channel with steady uploads and at least a handful of conversions a week.
- One primary conversion: a booked call, an opt-in, or a purchase. Pick the one your business actually runs on.
- One payment source that both tools can read, so revenue is compared on the same ledger.
Set up both tools the same way
Fairness matters more than speed here.
- Connect the same YouTube channel to both tools.
- Connect the same scheduler (Calendly or Cal.com, for example) and the same payment processor.
- Put each tool's tracked link on a different, comparable set of videos, or alternate them by upload week. Don't stack two tracked links in the same description: viewers pick one and you split your own data.
- Write down the date each connection went live. Any revenue from before that date shouldn't count for either tool.
Run it for two to four weeks
High-ticket funnels are slow. A viewer may watch on Monday, book on Thursday, and pay the following week. Two weeks is the minimum for most coaching and consulting channels; four is better if your sales cycle is longer.
Compare these numbers
| Question | What a good result looks like |
|---|---|
| How many conversions were credited to a specific video? | High share, with the rest clearly labelled as unknown rather than guessed |
| How much revenue is unattributed? | Shown as a number, with a reason for each gap |
| Does a single sale's path make sense when you open it? | You can see every touch in order and how the payment was matched to the buyer |
| Did the totals match your payment processor? | Yes, net of refunds |
| How much manual work did setup and upkeep take? | Low enough that it will still be done in month three |
Pay special attention to buyers who paid with different details than they booked with: a work email, a partner's card, a company account. That's where tools separate. See attributing high-ticket sales when buyers pay from different details.
Read the disagreements, not just the totals
If the two tools credit different videos for the same sale, open that sale in each tool and look at the path. Often the difference is a credit model (first video watched versus last video clicked), not an error. That's useful: it tells you which videos introduce buyers and which ones close them. More on that in first-touch vs last-touch for YouTube.
Decide, then migrate cleanly
Once you've chosen, move every description over in one pass rather than video by video. The steps are in switching from Trakyo: moving tracked links without breaking attribution.
Quick answers
How long should a test run? Two weeks minimum, four if your sales cycle is longer than a week.
Can I run two tools on the same video? You can, but it splits your clicks. Alternate videos or weeks instead.
What if both tools show low attribution? Check your link placement first. If tracked links aren't in descriptions and pinned comments, no tool can credit those videos.
